Mateus Mazzaferro

Ph.D. student at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and a researcher at the Stanford Center on Early Childhood.

Mateus Mazzaferro is a Ph.D. student at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and a researcher at the Stanford Center on Early Childhood. Prior to his time at Stanford, Mateus worked at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and at the NYU School of Global Public Health. He received his B.S. in Psychology from Humboldt University in Berlin and his M.A. in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.


Mateus' research interests center around shedding light on the mechanisms through which hardship and adversity impact early education and family systems and, in turn, influence key early psychological outcomes such as executive function and behavioral challenges. In addition, he is interested in developing and evaluating technology-based programs and interventions aiming to support educators and children in underserved communities.
